My mother is Nigerian, but my father is Cameroonian - Skales

The rising star of African music, Skales talks about his career and Cameroon, the land that saw the birth of his father. He also talked about the emotions he experienced at MTN Ifest237 music show on 06 December in Douala.

Q: Who is Skales?

A: Skales is a fun guy!! Lol. Ok seriously, I'm a musician, I write, I sing and I rap. I'm learning how to produce music and play one of my favorite instruments. I was born and raised by my mom in Kaduna, Nigeria. My dad is Cameroonian. I graduated from the Leads City University in Ibadan, Nigeria, where I studied and attained my degree in Business Administration. I'm also signed to Baseline Entertainment.

Q: As a half Cameroonian, what made you decide that it was time to come back home and discover your roots?

A: I have always imagined what it would be like. I never had the opportunity to be in Cameroon until the MTN Ifest 237 concert in Douala. I was really excited when my manager called to say “hey we are going to Cameroon”. I wasn’t sure what to expect but it was a very good experience, and I can’t wait to do it again.

Q: Did you expect so much love from the Cameroonian people?

A: I often received messages from fans in Cameroon on Twitter and Instagram but I really did not expect the love I received upon my arrival especially when I got on stage. It was too much! I'd like to say a massive thank you to everyone who came that night. To all Cameroonians who supported me from the beginning and during the MTN Ifest. I love you guys and I look forward to seeing you.

Q: What's next for Skales?

A: I 'm working on my debut album, to be released in 2015. Will be dropping some more music and videos before then so stay tuned.
