Askia addresses her skin bleaching controversy

“Bleaching” is the preferred term in many parts of Africa for the use of cosmetics that lighten the tone of the skin. Skin-bleaching is on the rise in Cameroon - as some people think women with light skin are the most beautiful.

This beauty standard … pushes many girls to de-pigment their skin.
The sad part is that most of these "cheap" bleaching creams and lotions sold around Cameroon contain mercury and its derivatives, cortisone, vitamin A, or more than two percent hydroquinone, a lightening agent that is used to develop photographs. SKIN CANCER is believed to be a side effect of these products.

Cameroonian rapper Askia, who recently made headlines for joining the "team light-skin girls" just released a freestyle track addressing her skin bleaching controversy.

It is safe to say the rapper accepted the fact that she bleached her skin. In the track the "No Worry Me" rapper shades a blogger(s), mention's Cameroon's first daughter and much more.
