The new Nigerian commander of the joint force arrives in N'Djamena

The new Commander in Chief of the General multinational joint force, Illiya Abbah, arrived in N'Djamena yesterday.

The Nigerian national will assume office at the headquarters of the force based in Chad, having been recently appointed by Nigerian President, Buhari .

The deputy of the force would be of Cameroonian nationality while the Chief of Staff will be of Chadian nationality.

The countries of the Lake Chad Basin (Chad, Niger, Nigeria, Cameroon and Benin) have planned to mobilize 8700 men in a multinational force against Boko Haram with at least 3,000 Chadian soldiers.

117 terrorists of the EIAO (formerly Boko Haram) were killed with many injured and some equipment recovered during an invasion by the Chadian armed forces at the Lake Chad islands over the weekend. Two Chadian soldiers died and two others were injured in the attack.
