Cameroon duo in India arrested for duping pet lover

Cyberabad police arrested two Cameroon nationals for duping a pet lover of Rs 50,000 in the guise of selling a pair of macaw parrots.

Police nabbed Alex Rodrigue Eboko, 27, and Ndim Abake Mathieu, 31, Cameroon nationals studying under- graduate courses in Hyderabad.

The duo posted an advertisement on a website in April 2015 saying that they were selling exotic birds, including blue and gold macaws. On seeing the advertisement, a victim from Serilingampally contacted the duo and they offered to sell the birds for Rs 1.5 lakh.

When the victim expressed his interest in purchasing the birds, the duo made him deposit Rs 50,000 in their bank account as advance.

When they demanded more money for flight charges and other expenses, the victim grew suspicious and lodged a complaint with the Cyber Crime police of the Cyberabad police in April.

By working out on the leads, police arrested the duo from their house at Tolichowki on Monday and seized a laptop, seven cellphones, two passports and Rs 40,000 cash.

Police came to know that the duo were also duping people by offering to sell 32 types of steroids, 16 types of sleeping pills, 28 types of potency drugs, eight types of botox injections and 12 types of human growth hormones on the website.

The duo also acted in a 2012 Tollywood film 'Swami Ra Ra' as villains. They were produced in court and remanded in judicial custody.
