Cameroon Community in Ghana receives CameroonWeb with glee

CameroonWeb, since its foundation some six months ago, has received a lot of commendation from Cameroonians worldwide.

The most recent was from the Cameroonian Community in Ghana, a Cameroonian group in Accra which caters for the welfare of nationals living in the West African country.

Their delight was evident when CameroonWeb paid them an unannounced visit during one of their monthly meetings on November 30, 2014 held at the Cameroonian Le Repere Restaurant and Afro Jazz Bar at Kotobabi Down in Accra, Ghana.

Members of the group were taken through a presentation of the CameroonWeb portal, which has come to stay to objectively inform, educate and entertain Cameroonians both in Cameroon and in the diaspora to enable them contribute also to nation building.

The Public Relations Officer of the Cameroon Community in Ghana, Alban Kamkeu, expressed gratitude for the objective of the new portal which is one of its kind in Cameroon.

“We are happy about the platform you are offering us which will allow us be involved in national issues from abroad. We will also use it to show our countrymen the good work we are also doing here,” Mr. Kamkeu said.

CameroonWeb went further to donate a cheque for 500 Ghana Cedis to the Community to help in the facilitation of their programmes.

The president of the Community, Linda Body Lawson, who received the cheque on behalf of the group was thankful to CameroonWeb and prayed for a more lasting relationship with Cameroonians home and abroad to build a more informed nation.

She acknowledged the importance of reaching out to the broader network of Cameroonians in the diaspora so that they can be recognized and aided whenever there is an issue of greater concern to them.

The group consists of about a 100 members of diverse occupations and origins in Cameroon. They have among them, doctors, teachers, businessmen and women, journalists and students residing in Ghana.

The venue for their meetings, Le Repere Restaurant and Afro Jazz Bar, is owned by a Cameroonian, Romeo Richard, who has managed the place for the past two years. They serve local Cameroonian dishes and drinks among other Francophone delicacies with music to entertain their guests.

The meeting ended with merry making as drinks and Cameroonian food which included Egushie Pudding, Baton and Kwa Coco were served to the over three dozen members present while they engaged in networking.
