A planned Boko Haram bombing at Abuja International Airport foiled

The Department of State Security (DSS) according to the Nigerian newspaper, Premium Times, have foiled an attack by Boko Haram to bomb the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.

The Nigerian newspaper says according to a statement from the DSS, a 14-year-old Sulaiymon Abdulraman, was arrested on Monday at Nnamdi Azikiwe airport in Abuja. "The teenager admitted having received orders to spy on current security procedures at the airport," says Premium Times.

After his arrest, the young Abdulraman "revealed that he had infiltrated the airport with the help of another man, Dauda Sadiq, currently at large."

Dauad Sadiq, a suspected member of Boko Haram, had instructed him to "spy on equipment and to transmit information on the security measures applied to screening passengers, boarding procedures and other processes in Halls of departures and arrivals," said the spokesman of the DSS, Tony Opuiyo to Premium Times.

Since this spy network was dismantled at the international airport in Abuja, the DSS said it works closely with all the Nigerian civil aviation authorities to prevent possible attacks at airports.
