According to the Italian Embassy in Cameroon, every year over 300 Cameroonian students knock on the doors of Italian universities. There are now more than 3,000 Cameroonian students who are enrolled in Italian universities.

These, according to the head of the Italian diplomatic mission in Yaounde, Samuela Isopi "make up the majority of students from the south of the Sahara."

Italy did not stop there. In the coming years, the diplomatic representation in the country "wants to admit 400 students wishing to pursue a university course in Italy," reports the newspaper Le Messager in its edition of Tuesday, October 20, 2015.

To justify this opening, head of the diplomatic mission whose country is at the forefront in the migrant crisis, argues that this is to "encourage legal immigration," adding, "Italian universities are proud to welcome the Cameroonian students".

The Italian language is doing quite well in Cameroon, since "36 establishments spread over all 10 regions already have and have already adopted the teaching of Italian as a foreign language, 72 teachers have been trained for the occasion for a total of 3180 students," La Messager reported.
