Woman chops off another's ear for Fcfa 1,000

Inhabitants of Mile 14, a locality near Buea, are still to come to terms with what happened last 13 April in their neighbourhood. Abang Yebeh Lilian, 30, is in police custody over the cutting off of Akwi Clarissta's left ear.

The story goes that Akwi Clarissta left for Church last Sunday in the morning. Along the way, she noticed that she had forgotten her phone at home. She therefore sent one little girl to pick it up and the latter did. When Akwi returned from Church and was about to prepare food, the FCFA 1,000 which she had in her purse near the cell phone could not be found.

She started questioning the little girl whom she had sent to bring the phone. This resulted in a quarrel between Akwi and the girl's mother. Abang who lives at Mile 30 (Muyuka), some 16 kilometres away, was on a visit at Mile 14 that fateful day.

During the quarrel, Abang quickly took sides with her host friend (mother of the girl) and engaged in a heated argument with Akwi. This resulted in a nasty fight as the two companions battled Akwi. Abang bit and cut off Akwi's left ear and ended up in the police net.
