Trans-border crime, illicit drugs: police reinforce cooperation

The 23rd technical sub-committee meeting ended in Yaounde.

Delegates attending the 23rd technical sub-committee of the Chiefs of Police of the Central Africa have agreed that a committee be created to follow-up trans-border crimes in the region so as to intensify the fight against criminality.

This is one of the recommendations reached yesterday March 5, 2015 at the International Criminal Police Organisation (ICPO) Regional Bureau in Yaounde.

The head of the Regional Bureau, Emmanuel Assama told the delegates to make sure the recommendations are effectively applied since the protection of the population is at the heart of their job.

The Regional Specialised Officer for the Central African Police Chiefs Committee Delegate, Conrad Atefor Tsefor said the 23rd technical sub-committee meeting examined the recommendations reached at the 22nd technical sub-committee meeting which took place at Porte Noire, Congo and their level of implementation.

The meeting concluded on which country will host which specialised meeting of the Police chiefs Committee as well as to revise the agreement on judicial police matters in the Central Africa Region. At the end of the meeting, delegates also agreed to reinforce “Operation Pili” which is geared towards fighting illicit drugs.
