Student stabs another to death in North West

A form two student of Baptist Comprehensive High School in Njinikijem in Belo Subdivision of the Northwest Region, Chiff Beyoni, recently stabbed an Upper Sixth student of that institution, Carle Ayeah, to death.

It is reported that students were returning home after school, when Cliff Beyoni, riding a bicycle, knocked down another student. As the student was crying in pains and complaining about the incident, Beyoni ignored him. When Carle Ayeah cautioned Beyoni to apologise for his act and show, at least, some signs of remorse, he left his bicycle, walked to the boy, removed a knife from his bag and stabbed the boy on the hand.

Ayeah is said to have rushed to the rescue of the wounded boy and Beyoni approached Ayeah, who had joined other student to condemn the act, from behind. A woman who was watching the act, alerted Ayeah of the danger behind him, but before Ayeah who was assisting the bleeding boy could turn; he received two successive stabs from Beyoni’s knife on his throat. Ayeah dropped down helplessly, bled profusely and died on the spot.

There was total commotion in Njinikijem, especially among students and the deceased family. The students mobilised a man hunt for Beyoni, swearing to also end his life, but the police recued him and remanded him in custody. The form two student is presently helping the police in their investigation.

The victim’s parent, Victor Nju Chung, a worker with the CAMTEL Centre in Nkambe, said it is the biggest loss to him and his entire family. He said, he would remain very thankful to his Spiritual Director, Rev. Father Njogai, the Parish Priest of Binju-Nkambe, who counselled him on the incidence before he left Nkambe for is village. He said before the Priest’s prompt intervention, he had only thought of avenging the death of his son. “I wanted blood for blood.”

When I later arrived home, the entire family and other villagers were anxiously waiting for me to come and engage a revenge move for them to join me, but they were disappointed when I told them that God was in control.” Chung, however, revealed that his son was buried after some rituals were performed.

Chung further sated that “the cruel death of my son was like the second “bomb blast” in my family in a relatively short period of time. The first happened to my sister who was poisoned and she died on the eve of her wedding day and when my family was still trying to recover from the shock of her death, my son has followed under the same circumstances.

He further hinted that the only thing that almost ran him mad was when the assailant’s parents came and were asking how much they could pay for the loss of his son. He nevertheless said, he understood that they were acting because they were afraid of the unknown.

Given that the boy is a teenager, many had suspected that the boy’s act must have been tele-guided by an evil spirit. This is on the grounds that, recently, the initiations of school children into demonic cults have been on the rise.
