Sergeant Abanda’s murderers arrested in Douala

The assassins of Thierry Abanda, a Sergeant at the Rapid Intervention Battalion, were apprehended by elements of the anti-crime brigade of the regional Division of the judicial police in the Littoral in Douala.

Beka François, aka ‘choux bébé’ born in 1992, Christian Fowe alias ‘Ali’ born in 1997, Bene Essome aka 'Zolbert' born in 1994, were the three members out of the four thugs who brutally took the life of Sergeant Abanda. They were presented to the press in Bonanjo a few days ago, reported the daily, La Nouvelle Expression in its Thursday, September 17, 2015, edition.

According to police sources of the journal, "the investigation which was aimed at laying hands on these men was opened in the aftermath of the assassination of the military man in February 2015. The elements of the anti- crime brigade, to which the folder was entrusted, first arrested Christian Fowe on February 22, 2015, a day after the crime. "His interrogation permitted them to arrest Bene Essono another Member of the gang in the city of Ndikinemeki.”

Transferred to Douala, his interrogation facilitated the arrest of François Beka, the third member of the gang on September 6, 2015, at former carrefour Dalip in Akwa Douala. After interrogation, the three criminals acknowledged having assaulted and stabbed Sergeant Thierry Abanda", revealed the officials of the regional Division of the judicial police in the Littoral.

After their summon before the Prosecutor of the Republic near the High Court of the Wouri River, the three criminals were placed under warrant of committal at Douala central prison. They are within the scope of article 276 of the penal code, which punishes any person guilty of a crime of murder with a sentence of life imprisonment.

Recalling the facts, the newspaper said that "on the night of February 21-22, 2015, Thierry Abanda, a military man in service with the Rapid Intervention Battalion of Bertoua went for errands in Douala when he was assaulted and fatally stabbed by a gang of four thieves. The fourth member of the gang is still on the run.
