Police investigate murder of boy killed over Jambo game

Police are investigating the fatal stabbing of a young man following an anonymous phone call that led them to the bloody murder scene.

Officers of the 13th district police discovered the body of twenty-year-old Julien, on Monday with a lethal stab wound in the neck.

According to witnesses, the victim and 12 of his friends had being playing jambo all night from Sunday through to Monday and at one point Julien had ended up with a 0 score. this could have led to what ended up in the untimely death of this boy.

As per the narration we heard, the victim and his friends played "jambo" all night from Sunday to Monday. At one point, Julien ended up with a total of 284,000 CFAf and he no longer wanted to play on, but his friends insisted he continued. After a few hours of play, he had just 44,000 CFA left, then 14,000 and eventually nothing. At around 5am he asked one of his friends to lend him 1,000 CFA so he could return home.

However the winner, who had pocketed a rather large sum of money, didn’t take kindly to the request and a fight broke out between the two players, which quickly escalated into a brawl.

The winner, for fear of being robbed, pulled out a knife and stabbed his friend who fell down dead. The whole group fled as a witness called the police. Investigations are currently ongoing.
