North West: ESIR confiscates 100 kg of Indian hemp

It was the end of the road for two individuals arrested by elements of the Special Rapid Response Teams (Esir) in Bamenda with a large stock of 100 kg of Indian hemp in a bag.

According to national radio, CRTV, the two suspected traffickers from Njamé in the Bui department were spotted on a motorcycle on the Mile Four-Mile six road in the 3rd district by the Esir. In an attempt to arrest them, the suspects sped off igniting a chase by the security forces.

The police later arrested them in a swoop and discovered their motorbike which had strapped at its back a bag with 100 kg of Indian hemp they were transporting to Mamfe in the Southwest region, according to information revealed by the traffickers during the police operation of the 3rd district of the city of Bamenda.

Two weeks ago in Bui, Northwest region, a marijuana grower who owned more than one hectare of the prohibited plant was arrested and arraigned before court, said the reporter of the national radio.
