Gang ransack office, make away with 4.5 million

Some robbers reportedly broke into an office in Menoua, making away with 4.5 million F belonging to the group. The money, which has been set aside for a tontine was supposed to have been handed over to a member last Tuesday.

Money totalling 4.5 million, raised from members contributions was taken away by thieves on Monday dawn to Tuesday morning. The funds were in the office of attorney powers of the Finance of Dschang, Treasurer of the tontine.

According to information from a good source, the criminals got into the office using a crowbar and a new nail. They cut the iron bars to gain entry into the office to carry out their activity.

Subsequently, they had gone to the Sub-Prefecture of Dschang as well as the Divisional Centre of tax of the Menoua where they searched their offices.

The attack comes a week after that perpetrated against the services of the prefecture of the Menoua. Here, the criminals took the meter and circuit breaker located in the parking lot of the building.

The prefect of Menoua, Joseph Bertrand Mache Njouonwet, rushed to the scene and ordered them to strengthen security and immediately instal public lighting around these public places.

The police however suspect that the attack was orchestrated by someone within the group, thus an investigation has been opened by the Dschang central police to apprehend the thieves.
