On Feb 17th 2016, the lady was caught after she stole a baby from the Obala District Hospital. The story goes that after stealing the baby, she took an okada rider and paid him FCFA 5000 to drop her at a destination that normally costs 300 CFA F as okada fare.

Seeing her with a young baby and the urge in her behavior, the okada noticed that something was wrong somewhere, then decided to turn her in. The baby was given back to the mother, and is in good health. Meanwhile the thieve was handed to the police of the Obala town.

This phenomenon is not new in our towns and cities. Many women do see their babies stolen by unknown individuals for reasons that no one can tell. The most obvious reason can only be for rituals. Some might say being childless can also be the cause. But there are orphanages almost everywhere to adopt any child you want to.
