Boxing at the Excel South Arena 2, Hyacinthe Mewoli Abdon was overpowered by Uzbekistan's Fazlidden Gaibnazaroy 6-11 in a tight first round that ended with the judges scoring the bout evenly.
During the second bout, Mewoli came up strong but lost concentration at midway with Gaibnazarov capitalizing. As the minutes ebbed, the 21-year old Uzbek athlete bobbed in and out of the range, tempting the Cameroonian 60-kg athlete into an attack before dodging and countering. The Uzbek's tactics proved very fruitful as he took and maintained the lead to the end of the fight.
