We’re just playing as a team - Alfred Aroga

The Cameroonian big man had his best game to date for the Bulldogs, and in a season where the locals seemed to have caught up with the international players, it is Aroga who stood out from the rest as he helped NU grab the top spot after six games.

“We’re just playing as a team and we only care about helping each other to make the team better,” he said.

The Bulldogs finally ascended to the top of the power rankings behind an unforgettable massacre of Adamson and a gut-out victory over UE.

NU leads the league in rebounding, which is just a testament of coach Eric Altamirano’s emphasis on defense.

After getting beat in the offensive boards by La Salle for their only loss this season, the Bulldogs seemed to have found the remedy to that weakness, as Alfred Aroga,Troy Rosario, and Glenn Khobuntin ranks in the top 10 in rebounding, and all are also in the top five for offensive rebounds.

“Hopefully, that’s the start of our maturity as a team. Yung character, di naman yan nabubuild when you’re losing. It does when you’re winning,” the coach said. NU finishes its first round on a date against FEU.
