Embiid's agent confirms he'll play in Summer League

Joel Embiid better play in Summer League.

I’m sure that’s what we’ve all been thinking as the Sixers season came to a close this year. Embiid missed all of 2014-15 with a foot injury that happened before the NBA Draft, but that didn’t stop the Sixers from taking him third overall. It was a tough blow for Sixers fans that just watched Nerlens Noel sit out a season from an ACL tear, but this fan base has shown amazing patience since Sam Hinkie’s reign started.

Brett Brown said he expected Embiid to play this summer and so did all of the Sixers fans. Well, we have more good news about that. Embiid’s agent, Arm Tellem, confirmed that Embiid will be participating in Summer League this season.

Here are the quotes via CSN Philly:

“The good news is [Embiid] is back playing basketball now,” Tellem said in a conversation Wednesday that will air Thursday morning on Breakfast on Broad. “This is now coming from the Sixers that he has made great progress. We expect him to play this summer. I am keeping my fingers crossed that Joel will be a terrific player, sort of the anchor of this franchise going forward. All signs are pointing in a good direction, and that is most encouraging.”

That’s more encouraging news about Embiid. And we’re all keeping our fingers crossed about Embiid being the Sixers franchise anchor going forward. But, we have to start somewhere and that somewhere is Summer League. Here’s a reason to be excited this summer.
