The first awards ceremony was held in the regional league and Levi Guimdo was awarded the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the U14 category of the Centre Regional Basketball League.

Upon receiving his award in the presence of the “legends” of the discipline, he was full of emotion on Friday in Yaoundé.

The Centre League of the discipline celebrated its best and for each, it was a shock and mixed feelings. “I am one of the pioneers of the first to receive this award. I am happy. I least expected it in terms of my performance,” said the recipient, captain of Alph basketball and champion in its class.

As a reward, a pair of tennis footwear from Luc Mbah Mouté, NBA player, was given to the best in the championship aside the trophy. The shoes may not fit but it would be kept as a treasure. Not all the players were awarded but the moment was sacred. This was the aspiration of Neckty Amassoka Manga, MVP of less than 10 years.

The evening was also an opportunity to review the legends and reward those who have contributed to the development of Cameroonian basketball. Yves Tsala, president of the League, thought it had to start one day and that day was September 18. Bidjan Jacques’s former glory was highlighted during the occasion.

Etienne Obah Nkoa, Augustine Tchouling, other big names were present. The retired Colonel Ebogo Titus, commander of the presidential guard from 1985 to 1999, was among the people who campaigned for the development of basketball. With GP basketball, he was able to inspire vocations and maintain the flame in his own way. He was also honoured that night
