Sammy Ndjock blunder in Bournemouth win

In what was a simple preseason friendly 4-0 win for Bournemouth on their United States tour, Minnesota’ United goalkeeper Sammy Ndjock grabbed the headlines for all the wrong reasons.

A first-half brace from Callum Wilson was sandwiched by Ndjock’s own goal before Lewis Grabban grabbed a late fourth in the 87th minute for the Cherries.

The North American Soccer League outfit were already struggling to contain the visitors but it was Ndjock’s 26th minute howler that made it worse.

After rushing out to collect a wayward high ball in his own box, Njock immediately threw the ball out to one of his defenders, but he somehow managed to direct it straight into his own net.

With Minnesota slated to join Major League Soccer next season, coach Carl Craig will be hoping for a better showing from his Cameroon international goalkeeper.

And in case anyone doubted his qualities, Ndjock was in Cameroon’s 2014 FIFA World Cup squad.
