The Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Bidoung Kpwatt has laid the foundation stone for the construction of three football pitches. The ceremony took place at the Cameroon’s Football Association (FECAFOOT) Technical Centre in Yaounde.

One of the pitches will be constructed with natural turf, another for beach soccer and the third pitch for futsal.

The three football pitches are result of a project jointly financed by FIFA and FECAFOOT.

The project stands at a cost of over FCFA 400 million with FIFA contributing FCFA 304 million and FECAFOOT putting in FCFA 106 million.

The President of FECAFOOT, Tombi a Roko Sidiki says it will serve as a booster for the development of football in the country.

The engineers charged with the construction say work will be complete by December 2016 since the first phase of the construction work is already complete.
