Chelsea can sign Alex Song for £6m

Chelsea are interested in signing Barcelona midfielder Alex Song this summer due to his homegrown status and can secure the Cameroon international’s services for as little as £6 million.

This is according to the Daily Mail, who understand Barcelona are prepared to take a £9 million hit on the player they signed from Arsenal less than three years ago.

While Chelsea would be an attractive option for Song, 27, it’s understood that Manchester City are also looking at the midfielder with Yaya Toure reportedly close to signing for Inter Milan.

Song will not be staying at loan club West Ham beyond this summer, while Barcelona have no intention of keeping him at the Camp Nou, meaning he will almost certainly begin the 2015-16 campaign with a new club.

Both AC Milan and Inter Milan are also understood to be keen on Song, whose preference is to stay in the Premier League.
