Report: Alex Song wants Liverpool transfer this summer

West Ham midfielder Alex Song is reportedly looking for a move to Liverpool or Manchester City.

According to the Daily Mail, West Ham midfielder Alex Song believes he can earn a move to Liverpool or Manchester City this summer.

The Cameroon international, 27, is on a season long-loan at Upton Park having fallen out of favour at Barcelona, and made a strong return to the Premier League.

Formerly of Arsenal, Song was the heartbeat of the West Ham midfield as Sam Allardyce's men impressed massively in the first half of the season.

Yet fast-forward to the second half of the season and Song has been a shadow of his former self. West Ham have won just one of their last ten Premier League games after Saturday's 3-1 home defeat to Crystal Palace in a game where Song struggled - again.

Last week, Song was at fault as he conceded a last minute penalty against Tottenham to cost West Ham two points, and fans were unhappy with his display after the game.

Despite his recent struggles, the Daily Mail believe that Song wants a move to either Liverpool or Manchester City - and he thinks he can earn it.

Liverpool need a replacement for Steven Gerrard this summer with their inspirational captain set to join MLS side Los Angeles Galaxy, while Manchester City were caught short in midfield when Yaya Toure went to the Africa Cup of Nations with Ivory Coast.

While Song may want a move to one of those two clubs, his recent displays may make teams think twice about signing him - with West Ham surely unable to afford him permanently.
