Panthère face uphill challenge in Kigali

Panthère du Ndé are facing an uphill battle against Rayon Sports in Kigali on Sunday, in the return leg of their Confederation Cup preliminary round tie.

The Cameroonians, who are yet to taste victory in 2015 despite a three-match unbeaten run on the local stage, need to overcome their 0-1 home defeat to the Rwandan outfit in the first leg to keep alive their hopes of qualification. A challenge that they are prepared to meet.

“We must score in Kigali. The aim is to get at least two goals to be able to progress. And if we cannot achieve it, we need to score once without conceding so we can defend our chances in the penalty shootout,” Panthère coach Emmanuel Ndoumbe Bosso told Africanfootball.com ahead of their trip to Rwanda.

Pleased with their crucial away win at the Douala Reunification Stadium, Rayon Sports will be confident to finish the job in front of their home crowd.

However, coach Habimana Sosthene’s boys just suffered a 0-4 thrashing to APR in the Rwandan league where they have not recorded a single home victory since November 5, 2014, a poor record that might give the visitors some ideas.
