Sampdoria owner: Eto’o somewhere between rip-off and champion

Sampdoria president Massimo Ferrero has joked about the value and age of new signing Samuel Eto’o.

The 33-year-old stormed out of training after an argument with coach Sinisa Mihajlovic within days of signing for the club in January, and Ferrero voiced his opinion on whether he thought Eto’o represented a rip-off or a champion of great value.

“He’s somewhere in between,” he told Canale 5. “I am not the one who needs to comment on him; Eto’o is Eto’o.

“[Chelsea manager] Jose Mourinho wondered how old he was? We haven’t worked that out yet either.”

The Cameroon international won three UEFA Champions League titles during his time with Barcelona and Inter, and has so far made three appearances for Samp.
