Boumsong unruffled over goal drought

Cameroonian forward Rafael Boumsong believes he will overcome his goal drought at six-time Nigerian champions, Enyimba.

Boumsong arrived in Enyimba last term, after a fantastic debut at El-Kanemi Warriors during the 2012/13 season.

Despite joining the Maiduguri side during the Week nine transfer window, Boumsong finished as top scorer with nine goals and emerged the second winner of the League Bloggers Awards (LBA) Best Foreign Player category in 2013.

Unfortunately injured, the Cameroonian missed Enyimba’s shock exit from the Caf Champions League last year, but the Cameroonian forward got his debut as a second-half substitute in the 3-0 annihilation of Beninoise champions, Buffles.

Boumsong did not get a league goal for all his efforts last term, but scored twice in the Federation Cup.

“I’ve worked hard without goals for all my efforts, but I’m confident my goal drought will soon be a thing of the past. I scored my first hat-trick for Enyimba in a friendly match against Abia Warriors just before the Champions League encounter. It ended 4-0 with Kingsley Sokari scoring too.

“My performance against Abia Warriors is enough motivation for me to know I’ll score in competitive matches for Enyimba,” the Cameroonian told supersport.com.

It is his second campaign in the Caf Champions League after making his debut for Chadian side Gazelle in 2013.
