Sorel Chemin has left Dunfermline Athletic

The Cameroon born player joined Dunfermline at the end of September 2014 on a short term contract but John Potter now feels that the club not have the luxury of being able to wait and see the player developing. The manager told this website:-

"He came in and did well. It took him a while to get started but we worked on him quite a bit and there was a big improvement. Ideally we would have liked to keep him for a longer term but in the position that we are in, we just cannot afford fringe players. People have to come in and make an impact in the first team and unfortunately we just thought that he wasn't ready.

French from Cameroon parents, Sorel had been at PSG from the age of 13 and was recommended to Dunfermline. He came on trial so that the management and coaches could have had a look at him and was the opportunity to show more with a short term contract. It was hoped that he would provide something different, technically he was very good, very quick and had a terrific left foot. John Potter continued:-

"His contract was up and that was a decision that I had to make. He is one that could free a bit of money elsewhere. I spoke to him last week and told him the position. He understood it and was disappointed but we just felt that he wasn't the finished article yet and we do not have the time, not this season anyway."

Sorel (20) played in three matches for Dunfermline, each time as a substitute. He made his debut in the away win at Forthbank on 4th October but then didn't feature for another two months until used as sub v Ayr United and Stranraer.
