Cole backs Samuel Eto'o to join him at Roma

Ashley Cole has urged his new club Roma to sign his old Chelsea team-mate Samuel Eto’o.

Former England international Cole completed his move to the Serie A side last week following the expiry of his contract at Stamford Bridge.

Eto’o, the Cameroon striker, was also let go by Chelsea this summer but he is yet to find a new club.

The 33-year-old has been tipped to follow Cole to The Eternal City and the defender, who is also 33, believes he would be a great addition.

When asked about Eto’o, Cole said: "I’ve heard these rumours and the only thing that I can say is that we are talking about a great player and a great striker. With him the team would improve, but it’s not up to me."
