World Cup commission under pressure

An instruction from the Head of State to investigate the reasons behind Cameroon’s abysmal performance in the World Cup has caused a wave of reactions.

The communiqué signed on June 26 by the Secretary General President of the Republic, Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh, stated: "The President of the Republic, His Excellency Paul Biya, has prescribed the Prime Minister Head of Government to submit within a month, the result of his investigations into the causes of our inglorious campaign of the Indomitable Lions in the World Cup 2014 in Brazil, with proposals for a deep and urgent restructuring of Cameroonian football.”

A well-informed source says hundreds of reports have landed on the Prime Minister’s desk, even people whom nothing had been asked of what they thought were reported to have put their thoughts forward.

Among them, a number of football coaches who particularly resented the German coach Volker Finke, who was heard late last week by the commission of inquiry set up in the Prime Minister. Moreover, it was reported he was carrying a particularly vigorous report.

A number of personalities have also been placed before the Committee such as Joseph Antoine Bell, Roger Mita, Michel Kaham, Kalkaba Malboum, Tombi has Rocko, Raphael Nkoa, Rigobert Song and Samuel Eto'o but to name a few.

The commission, composed of eleven members, is chaired by the Secretary General of the Prime Minister, Louis Paul Motazé. Our sources also indicate that it has within it elements of the security forces.

The questions focus on the Indomitable Lions questionable performance in Brazil and in turn each members tries to find out what went wrong.

To some people, specific questions are asked about the role they played in Brazil. The Committee were also heard asking people to make proposals for the future.

The investigation ordered by the President Paul Biya occurs after Cameroon lost all three matches in the World Cup (0-1 against Mexico, 0 - 4 against Croatia and 1-4 against Brazil). An even more disastrous result than that of 2010 when Cameroon had already ended at the bottom of the World Cup ranking.
