Volker Finke has brought us nothing- Roger Milla

Several Cameroonian football fans hope Volker Finke position as the Coach of the Indomitable Lions will not be renewed when his contract ends on May 24. One of such is Roger Milla.

Camfoot met him on Wednesday at the multipurpose Sports Palace in Yaoundé. In the interview he granted us, former Indomitable Lion player still maintained his position on the subject: "I am a Cameroonian coach to be for the Indomitable Lions," he said.

Q: Why the Cameroonian government he takes as much time in the management of Volker Finke contract that comes to an end soon, in the Indomitable Lions?

A: I promised myself not to speak of the technical staff of the Indomitable Lions, because there are people who are responsible for this. I am not the one who appoints the coaches. There are too many controversies in this case. I will say and I repeat: I am a Cameroonian coach to be for the Indomitable Lions. We have to give a chance to our coaches. They do not train abroad for nothing. We have to use them, and if we realize that they are incapable, they should be dismissed and the opportunity given to others. If after six months you realize that the Cameroonian coaches do not take up the task, we can then begin to contract the foreign technicians.

Q: For this, we must first the Volker Finke contract not be renewed.

A: I think his contract with the Indomitable Lions is coming to a close. He still has a few weeks.

Q: Camfoot however was informed that it could be extended for the next two years.

A: I do not have this information yet. Sports Minister (Adoum Garoua, Editor's note.) And the President of FECAFOOT Standards Committee (Joseph Owona, Editor's note.) can certainly tell you more about it.

Q: How would you react if ever Volker Finke was kept in his post?

A: Honestly, I am against the renewal of the contract of this gentleman. The trouble continues with Volker Finke because he brought us nothing. It is obvious. He brought nothing to our country. We need to change Volker Finke; even if we have to take another foreigner. But I'm game for it to be a Cameroonian who will lead our selection of the playoffs in 2017 Can.

Q: And if he left?

A: If he does, I will still and always continue to speak as I speak; and I tell my truth. The same sources stated that the mission of Volker Finke was never to win a CAN, but to build a team capable of winning the 2019 edition at home. He rebuilt what team? You cannot rebuild a team with professional players playing in Europe. A team is reconstructed with the local youth; this is to say the players from the country.
