UMS de Loum crowned Cameroon Cup champs

UMS de Loum were the new champions of the Cameroon Cup after a match against Panthère sportive du Nde at Ahmadou Ahidjo stadium in Yaounde, on Sunday afternoon.

After a scoreless first half slightly dominated by the Fauves, it was the UMS team that proved more efficient with some 50,000 spectators to beat the Nde side 2-0.

The club from Loum, in the Littoral Region, was rewarded for its efforts by two goals from Nsameu in the 57th minute and Tientcheu in the 90th minute.

Between the two achievements, Panthère, who was playing their her fourth final in their history had the luxury of missing a penalty by Edoa in the 85th minute.

UMS, which narrowly missed being relegated to Ligue 2 in the league spiced her season by winning Cameroon Cup trophy with a score of 2 goals to 0.

This event, which marked the closing of the sports season in all disciplines, was chaired by the Head of State, Paul Biya. Before mounting his sit at the Presidential rostrum, the President of the Republic shook hands with presidents of sports federations recognized by the Ministry of Sports.

Among them was FECAFOOT represented by Tombi A Roko. The election of this recent FECAFOOT head was far contested by some of the fans of the "king sport" in Cameroon.

For supporters of Tombi, the handshake received from the Head of State was proof that their president is legitimate.
