Sports journalists condemn Guy Nsigué's arrest

"This is kidnapping. Joseph Owona is mistaken; he still believes we are in the period where he was Almighty Minister” Martin Camus Mimb, the boss of sport Radio info, where the journalist Guy Bertin Nsigue works.

He equated the arrest of his colleague with an act worthy of the period of dictatorships.

Martin Camus and his companions denounced the procedure used in arresting Guy Nsigué. It revealed that Guy Nsigué had not received any notice.

According to him, his colleague found himself at the Secretariat of State for defence early that afternoon because one of his acquaintances in service there asked him to pick up information there.

It was a trap because Guy Nsigué was to be detained. An employee of the Cameroon football Federation that was contacted early evening revealed that it is a "private affair”, a complaint that dates back several months.

Cameroon - Info.NET was also able to obtain the reaction of the president of the Association of sports journalists of Cameroon (Ajsc), Emmanuel Gustave Samnick. "I condemn any deprivation of liberty of a journalist. There is no need to get there. I am against the attitude of repression and confrontation. However, Journalists should not bombard sport leaders. I'll wait to know the substance of the case before Ajsc will react officially," he said.
