Rwanda Revenue Authority women's volleyball team defeated FAP of Cameroon in the play-off 5 to 8 position in the ongoing Women's African Club Champions in Cairo, Egypt.
RRA won with three straight sets 25-20, 25-21 and 25-21. The league champions had a bumpy start when they lost to Egyptian Shams by three straight sets, but later recuperated by crushing Senegal's Saltigue by three sets to one.
Coach Jean-Luc Ndayikengurukuye's team then lost to Carthage who needed only 66 minutes to beat them in three straight sets - 25-12, 25-19, 25-15.
Either Kenyan Pipeline or a North African team will be crowned the new African volleyball queens in the women's tournament when the tourney ends this weekend.
Pipeline qualified for the semi's after defeating defending champions GSP from Algeria with straight sets (25-15, 25-21, 25-21) in a game played with highly disciplined blockers and backline defense to win in 74 minutes.
In the battle for supremacy, they will face Shams on Wednesday. The second semifinal game will be classic North African derby on Thursday, when the Ahly (Egypt) take on Carthage from Tunisia.
