Program for the Cycling Tour of Cameroon modified

The 12th edition of the event will be now held from 13 to 22 March 2015, according to the International Cycling Union.

On the recommendation of the Union cycliste International (UCI), 2015 edition of the cyclingTour of Cameroon will take place from 13 to 22 March 2015.

The announcement was made by Honoré Yossi, president of the Cameroon Cycling Federation (Fecacyclisme), Thursday in Yaoundé, during a preparatory meeting for the event. Initially, the cycling Tour of Cameroon was expected this year from 11 to 22 March in 10 steps.

However, the UCI wanted the Fecacyclismeto to limit the event to "10 days". Two dates were proposed to the leaders of Cameroonian cycling namely, from 11 to 20 March or 13 March 22. The Fecacyclisme has opted for the second proposal, so that the event ends during a weekend.

In addition, the 2015 tour edition was reduced to eight steps. "The stage of eastern side of Abong-Mbang and that of Kye-ossi in Ebolowa have been removed. On the East, the reasons relate to insecurity and transshipment concerns which might have tired cyclists," says Jean-Baptiste Bhale, head of communication of the Fecacyclisme cell.

The changes also led to the adjustment in the stages of the Tour this year. Thus, the first step will leave from Yaounde to Bafia March 13; Bafia-Bagangte March 14; Bafoussam -Foumban -Bafoussam on March 15; Bafang-Mbanga March 17; Bonaberi-Buea-Limbe on 18 March; Limbe- Douala on 19 March; Douala - Kribi on 20 March; Pouma - Yaoundé on 22 March.

In addition, Cameroon has been invited to take part in the "Tropicale Amissa Bongo" from 16 to 22 February. Also, the national cycling coach, Dieudonné Ntep, convened nine runners who take part in an internship at Mbalmayo 24 January to prepare for this race.
