Martinez on Eto'o transfer rumours

On Monday the two main talking points around Goodison Park involved Samuel Eto'o and Cardiff's David Marshall.

Reports had suggested that Samuel Eto'o could be set for a January transfer move away from Everton to Serie A side Sampdoria.

The Italian side had apparently agreed an 18-month loan deal for the 33-year-old striker, while the Cameroonian International was set to earn in excess of £30,000-a-week.

But speaking to the Evening Times, Martinez has played down those rumours by revealing that Everton have received no contact for the player: 'I know there has been a lot of speculation, but we haven't been contacted - we have had no conversations about that issue at all.

'At the moment Samuel is working really well and is always a really strong influence in the day-to-day work, and there is nothing to comment on really.'
