L’Appel de Douala want Roko Sidiki to handle Fecafoot

Only three big names have been announced so far by the Cameroonian football media as declaring their intentions to run for the post of President of the Fécafoot.

They are the famous sports journalist Eboa Elame Mikano, former national coach and current No. 2 national technical director Robert Atha and former President of the Sports Panther Nde and retired captain of the army, Joseph Feutcheu.

However, the name mentioned as a likely candidate insistently and presented as a favorite is that of Tombi A Roko Sidiki, secretary general of the current Fécafoot. When asked about the subject, he said he does not want to talk about "the moment".

Ignoring the will of the latter would be to continue to maintain the mystery surrounding his probable candidacy, "Mutual", a group of leaders based in the Littoral Region clubs today launched "Call of Douala" to nominate Tombi A Roko Sidiki.

"Regional Coastal Football League invites the application of Mr.Tombi A Roko Sidiki as President of the Cameroon Football Federation." This is the phrase inscribed above a large poster with the image of Tombi A Roko. The poster was deployed Thursday, October 23, 2014 in the late morning in the conference room of a hotel in Douala for a press dinner.

"At present, Mr.Tombi A Roko has not yet decided on a candidate or not. If he wants to run, he will. The League calls on Littoral and other regional leagues of Cameroon to encourage Mr. Tombi to accept this call," said Pierre Batamak, president of the Mutual.

After unveiling the poster, each member of the Mutual affixed his signature on the poster in approval and commitment. "I signed because I feel solidarity as a member of the Mutual" explained Franck Happi, Vice President of the Professional Football League of Cameroon and President of the Athletic Union of Douala, the legendary club's most popular country.

On this occasion, members of the Mutual commented to gain media attention on the electoral process, which ended last Friday in the Littoral Region regarding the renewal operations managers offices of the four county leagues in the area.

"Lists conducted by our members were favored in all four leagues. Mutual is largely satisfied with its results. This is proof that those involved in football in this region understand that we are working to defend their interests" indicated Pierre Batamak.

However, the Election Commission has decided to cancel Fécafoot elections in the Nkam county league because of irregularities. "We are not happy with the cancellation because we believe that our candidate deserved to win. Now we will not challenge the decision of the Electoral Commission because we are convinced that even if a hundred times those elections are held, we will always win," said Pierre Batamak.

Elections in decentralized leagues (departments) were finalised Thursday by the Mfoundi league. On Friday 07 November, elections will take place within ten regional leagues of Cameroon. The election process will be completed by the election of the successor of Mohammed Iya after electing General Assembly in Yaounde possibly on November 29, 2014.
