Maintaining Volker Finke by the Presidency of the Republic and the lackluster performance of the Indomitable Lions reinforced the discontent of supporters of the regime.

President Paul Biya has made himself a set of new enemies among the discontent fans of the Indomitable Lions for maintaining Volker Finke.

The protesters declined to go in their numbers to support the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon who played against Mauritania as part of the first day of qualifying for the Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon 2017 on June 14 2015.

The match had the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium half empty which led to the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon downhearted. It has been a long while since the seats at the stadium in Mfandena had been empty.

The public is still not happy with the team’s performance in the last continental football tourney. Above all, Volker Finke was known for only winning friendly matches and unable to thrive at major competitions like the World Cup 2014 and the AFCON in 2015.

They protested against the Presidency of the Republic who imposed on them what even the Cameroon Football Federation no longer wanted. It is however unknown if the ‘hate’ by many supporters of the Indomitable Lions will go away anytime soon.

Sunday’s match did not yield any better results. The public concluded that henceforth, if the team does not perform well, the blame should be directed at the President who they do not understand the reason behind his decision.

Many sensed that if Finke had been sidelined, the Indomitable Lions would have performed much better.

Some of the supporters stated that the ruling government will lose their support adding that it was not a good move by the leaders who want the support and commitment of the people.
