Indomitable Lions Accused of World Cup Match-Fixing

Cape Town — Cameroon's football federation will investigate allegations of match-fixing by seven of their players at the World Cup in Brazil, Reuters has reported.

The report went on to say that the allegations against Cameroon came from convicted fraudster Wilson Raj Perumal, who correctly predicted the Indomitable Lions would lose 4-0 and have a man sent off in their match against Croatia.

Cameroon and Barcelona midfielder Alex Song was sent off for elbowing Croatia's Mario Mandzukic in that game, while team-mates Benoit Assou-Ekotto and Benjamin Moukandjo clashed later in the game.

A BBC Sport report says that Fifa has not commented on whether it was looking into the issue or not, as the football's world governing body did not want to "compromise any possible investigations".

Cameroon lost all three Group A matches leading to their early dismissal from the tournament.

The World Cup hasn't been as successful for African teams since three of them were sent off in the group stage and only the Super Eagles of Nigeria and the Desert Foxes of Algeria went through to the knockout stage.
