Indomitable Lionesses are back home awaiting bonuses

After more than two weeks spent in Windhoek for the finals of the 9th African Cup of Nations Women's Soccer weeks, the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon have returned home on Monday.

The official delegation headed by Adoum Garoua, Minister of Sports and Physical Education first landed at the Douala International Airport on board Kenya Airways.

Present to welcome the Lionesses was the Governor of the Littoral Region who had with him all his staff and others in the city's economic capital.

After the honors and the walkabout, the Lionesses were not released. They headed to Yaounde by road. In the capital, coach Enow Ngatchou and his players were lodged at the Mont Febe Hotel where they are waiting for the payment of performance bonuses by the government.

Reports suggest that Chantal Biya, the wife of the head of state could also make a trip to Mont Febe Hotel to congratulate the Lionesses.

With a record of three wins and two losses, Cameroon achieved on this occasion, the best record of all time: A silver medal, a first-ever qualification for the finals of the World Cup (World Canada 2015) and on the individual level, Ngo Dom Annette goalkeeper of Cameroon received the trophy for best goalkeeper (3 goals conceded), Carl Enow Ngatchou the best coach.

During the tournament, Gaëlle Enganamouit Mani and Christine were each selected best player respectively in matches against Algeria and Ivory Coast.

Nigeria, African champions, Cameroon vice champion and Côte d'Ivoire 3rd, will defend the colors of the continent during the World Cup that will be played in about eight months in Canada.
