Imminent MINSEP SG faces crisis

Oumarou Tado Oumarou Tado

Oumarou Tado, who was promoted as MINSEP SG, is facing a crisis that could taint the beginning of his new office upon return home with other members of the commission in charge of the recruitment of new coach.

The Director of High-Level Sports, Ministry of Sports and Physical Education (MINSEP) was promoted to Secretary-General of the same ministry on December 22, 2015, while he was in Europe to interview coaches short-listed for the post of coach of the Indomitable Lions.

The Cecifoot Lions, (football for the visually impaired), CAN finalists organized started an unlimited hunger strike from December 28 in Douala.Tired of waiting for two months, they decided to do a sit-in at the main entrance of MINSEP.

"We are demanding for the qualifying premiums, Olympic, participatory and second position reward. According to our calculations, each of us should have about 10 million FCFA," confided one of our strikers.

The demonstrators were finally not given the opportunity to implement their threat. "No sooner did we get to the ministry that Mr. Tado, to whom Minister Bidoung Kpwatt had entrusted the folder, invited us to a meeting in the conference room," said our source.

"After having indicated that the method of claim chosen was bad, he recognized that we were right and promised to meet us in February 2016 when the budget for the New Year will be ready," said our informant.

Thus, the movement was stopped. Oumarou Tado has been able to stop the hunger strike planned.

It is, however, not certain if the former acting director of the National Institute of Youth and Sports, which will be installed in his new role this December 29, knows such success throughout his teaching.
