Hassan N. represents Cameroon after France snubs him

The former WBA and WBO world champion have recently announced his intention to box for his country.

Hassan Ndam Njikam in Rio de Janeiro under the colors of Cameroon. Unthinkable even a few weeks ago, this possibility is increasingly plausible.

The Franco-Cameroonian expressed his desire to box for his country at the upcoming Olympic Games (5-21 August 2016).

The noble art will experience a revolution in Rio, the International Amateur Boxing Federation (AIBA) has decided to admit professional boxers in the OGs.

Also, Hassan Ndam said on June 23 that he would represent Cameroon in the heavyweight category.

According to our sources, the Cameroon Boxing Federation has even registered the former African champions in the qualifying tournament for the Olympic Games, scheduled in Venezuela from July 3.

An initiative subject to the approval of the National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSC).

This is indeed the body headed by Hamad Kalkaba Malboum, who is responsible for preparation and management of athletes for the Olympics.

“The CNOSC should agree,” reassures us a source in the Federal Executive.

Aged 32-year old today, Hassan Ndam Ndam was crowned amateur boxing champion of Africa in 2003 to the account of Cameroon. Qualified for the Athens Olympics in 2004, he lost in the final quarter. But the boxer embraces a professional career in the colors of France.

He quickly rose to become 2010 world champion WBA (World Boxing Association). Two years later, Ndam won the world title WBO (World Boxing Organization).

But his desire to play again for Cameroon is not really from his heart. France has indeed blocked Hassan Ndam in his category where there are better chances of medals from other athletes than him.
