Both players have been absent for quite a long time from the lions’ den. But Joël Matip and Sébastien Bassong are back officially in the Indomitable Lions squad.
Convened on the sidelines of the Gambia - Cameroon match on the second day of the 2017 AFCON, two Cameroonian defenders have joined the squad at their camp in Dakar, Senegal, on Monday.
Mbia and Nyom among early arrivals
The first delegation of the players summoned by Volker Finke took up residence at the Hotel Blu Valdison. Besides Joël Matip, Sébastien Bassong and Kombi, the first arrivals, according to Vincent De Paul Atangana, were the three goalkeepers namely Guy-Roland Ndy-Assembe, Fabrice Ondoa and André Onana. The others were defenders Nicolas Nkoulou, Ambroise Oyongo and Henri Bedimo. Others were midfielders Eyong Enoh including, Edgar Salli, Benjamin Moukandjo, Raoul Cedric Loe; and among the strikers were Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, Vincent Aboubakar and Jacques Zoua.
However, Stephane Mbia and other remaining players are expected. "As soon as they arrived, the players of the national team went to work. It was with a fitness sequence in the hotel's gym, supervised by staff members. Other players are expected tonight and tomorrow, to complete the selection,” said Team press officer.
