FECAFOOT announces FIFA validation of its proposed laws

The Transition President of the Cameroon Football Federation, Joseph Owona announces that Fifa has validated nine of its by-laws.

The by-laws submitted to Fifa on November 29, 2013 were in relation to the new statutes and the electoral code.

The said laws would be submitted to the extraordinary session of FECAFOOT General Assembly, for adoption.

Fifa installed the normalisation committee on 22 July 2013 with the mission to revise the statutes, conduct elections and manage the daily affairs of Fecafoot. It came after Fifa banned Cameroon for governmental interference into the running of the country’s football. The condition for the lifting of the ban was that the committee was allowed to begin work.

“FIFA has informed FECAFOOT of a near finalization of the validation process of the other proposed laws submitted to their examination; hence the remaining proposals shall not be included in the agenda of the above mentioned General Assembly session”, a release from the federation reads.

Owona has indicated that the Normalization Committee would convene within the shortest time to decide on how to make the proposed laws public, its upcoming agenda and the decision-making process which shall involve all relevant parties from the national football community in accord with their mandate.

The mandate of the Normalisation Committee was extended for another eight months from March till November 30, 2014.
