Expatriates sidelined in Fecafoot Coaches’ list

Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) in its recent publication of the list of coaches involved in the new football season, failed to publish the names of three foreign coaches.

Out of the 38 coaches in both League 1and 2, the names of the coaches of Coton Sport of Garoua, Unisport of Haut-Nkam and Bamboutos of Mbouda, were not included.

According to reports, the National Technical Directorate (DTN) that is responsible for the publication of the list, failed to publish the name of the three foreigners because their files were not sent to the DTN.

If the problem is not rectified, the three foreign coaches will not be able to sit on the bench as per the laws of FECAFOOT.

According to the laws of FECAFOOT, to coach in League 1, you must be a holder of CAF A license or be on probation for obtaining the said license. The licensed A Federal is also part of the list. CAF Level 1 Coaching or B license holders are allowed to lead League 2 clubs

Lionel Soccoia, French (Coton Sport of Garoua)

The French national was appointed by the 14 times Cameroon championship champions to replaced Didier Gomes da Rosa, who left the Garoua based club for CS Constantine.

Soccoia was the coach of Gabonese division one championship side, CF Mounana. It was under his reign that the FC Mounana pulled a goalless draw in a friendly against the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon ahead of the 2015 African Nations Cup.

Lionel Soccoia was enlisted for his experience in African competitions. He led CF Mounana to the quarter-final of the African Confederation Cup this season. Before landing in Gabon, he was in Ivory Coast where he also was at the helm of AFAD of Djékanou, CIFAS (Benin) and Ros Menton (France).

 

Sinisa Jovanovic- Serbian (Unisport of Haut-Nkam)

The Serbian-born tactician joined the ‘Flambeau de l’Ouest’ in 2014 and guided the Western region giants in international competitions. The Serbian already has a feel of the Cameroonian Pro League and as a result of this; his absence from the list is shocking.

He will be looking forward to guiding Unisport of Haut-Nkam as they sick to bring back the old days of glory enjoyed by the club.

Johan Buyle- Belgian (Bamboutos of Mbouda)

The 31-year-old Belgian is one of the youngest coaches in the Cameroon Pro League. An injury at a young age forced him into coaching. He has worked with young people at the national level in Belgium, trained Division 3 in Belgium and has spent most of his career working youth in Belgium.

Buyle is yet to have a taste of Cameroon football. Brought in to help revamp one of the most supported clubs in Cameroon football, the faith of the Belgian technician is yet to be known since he was excluded from the DTN league of Coaches.

He will be supported at the technical bench by Emmanuel Kundé and Jean-Claude Yerema.
