Eto’o maintained as coach, ordered to recruit Ronaldinho

The former captain of the Indomitable Lions who assumes the head coach functions of his team, for one week now, in Turkey will continue his interim until the winter break.

Promoted to the position, on December 10, after the sacking of the club coach, Samuel Eto’o will still remain for a long time.

“While waiting to find a new coach, the vice president of the Turkish club announced on Thursday, December 17, 2015 that the former Cameroon international will continue the interim until the winter break,” according to the Jeune Afrique magazine’s website.

So far he is doing pretty well in his dual role of player-coach of Antalyaspor. Already victorious in two games in his capacity as player-coach, the Cameroonian, author of 12 goals in 14 games in the championship, will remain on the bench until the next winter transfer window, and will be responsible for recruiting new players and especially to convince his former teammate from FC Barcelona, the Brazilian Ronaldinho to join their team.

“I also gave authority to Eto’o regarding transfers. He is the one to recruit Ronaldinho," said the president of Antalyaspor, Gültekin Gencer, on the Turkish NTV news channel on Thursday.

The two players had played together in Barcelona in 2014. With the Catalan club, Eto’o and Ronaldinho have won several titles including the triple Spanish league, Spanish Super Cup and Champions League in 2006.

Eto’o Fils is assisted in his duties by an assistant, Mehmet U?urlu, who has the confidence of the president to assume his responsibilities of player-coach.
