Court of arbitration for sport backs Fecafoot's extension of mandate

Joseph Owona and his peers at the Standardisation Committee of the Cameroon football Federation (Fecafoot) can continue their operations towards the fulfilment of their mission.

Recently, the Court of arbitration for sports approved the decision by FIFA to extend until November 30, 2014, the mandate of the Fecafoot Standardization Committee.

The power to manage the day-to-day affairs of Feootcaf to rewrite its texts and organize new elections had to initially be exercised from July 22, 2013 to March 31, 2014. But after this period, the team chaired by Joseph Owona had not totally completed its mission. FIFA who had expressed appreciation for the work done until then, recently decided to extend the mandate of the Standardization Committee for 8 months.

This extension was however challenged by Abdouraman Hamidou Babba. Seven months after the complaint of Abdouraman Hamidou Babba, the Court of arbitration for sport finally issued its verdict on Friday, October 31, 2014.

Its judges found no fault on the decision of the umbrella Forum of world football to give a second term to the standards Committee. "They rejected the appeal with respect to the extension of the mandate of the Standardization Committee".
