Clinton Njie prolongs Olympique Lyonnais stay

The indomitable Lions “Magic Boy” Clinton Njie has prolonged his contract with Olympique Lyonnais to 2019 amidst interest from Premier League giant, Arsenal FC, reports lequipe.fr

Njie whose initial contract with his current club was to end in 2016 has added three years that will now keep him in Lyon until 2019.

Speaking after prolonging his contract, N’jie said: "This is the beginning of the adventure. I'm happy. Now we have to continue working. I want to score, play. And I hope we will be at the European Champions League at the end of this season ... I'm proud of myself. I want to also thank everyone who helped me get this far ... This extension shows that the team has confidence in me, "said the player on the official website of the OL.

Before extending his contract, British tabloids, the Daily Star and the Mirror, have reported that the “the New Samuel Eto’o is currently under Arsenal radar and could make the switch to the Premier League giants during the January transfer window.

Following Cameroon’s previous two matches, the 21-year-old who currently plays with French Ligue 1 giants, Olympique Lyonnais, has been in superlative form scoring three goals and given an assist in two matches.

Though not yet an established regular in the Lyon first team this season, with 4 substitute appearances and 2 starting roles , the young forward has put on a great show and has become a household name in Cameroon football.

Clinton Njie began his career in Lyon, in 2010. The 2011 season with Lyon B saw him net 10 goals in 50 games prompting immediate promotion to the first team. He has continued to show steady progress ever since and now looks set to unleash all of the potential.

He has the pace and power of a real predator, and has started showing the potential of a future world star at a very tender age.

Also, his international form has been very impressive, with the 21-year-old scoring three goals in two games and an assist for the national team.
