Clinton Njie : Indomitable Lions’ new "Magic Boy"

Clinton Mua Njie, still in his early 20s, is a youngster who now represents the next generation of footballers. In just two caps for the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon, Njie already has three goals to his credit – no wonder he has been quickly tagged as the “new magic boy.”

Until last Saturday September 6, 21-year-old Clinton Njie was still little known in Cameroon. But that has quickly changed as he is now referred to as the revelation of the ‘new look’ Indomitable Lions.

His tact and wit in the game of football are just incredible. “Njie, where were you all these while?” wondered a sports commentator when the Lyon striker netted Cameroon’s fourth goal against the elephants of Ivory Coast Wednesday.

Of course, Njie was somewhere. The young talented goal scorer who is also a product from Brasseries Football Academy in Douala signed a 3-year-contract with French League 1 team Olympique Lyonnais in Gerland last year. He is now one of the most promising players Cameroon can count on.

Born on August 15, 1993 in Buea, South West region of Cameroon, this youngster measures 1.75m, weighs 68kg, and could be used as a right winger, a centre forward, and an offensive midfielder. Many say he is another Samuel Eto’o in the making.

He played his first professional match during the season 2012-2013 against Reims for a victory 3-0. He scored his first professional goal against Mladá Boleslav in the qualifying third round of the 2014-2015 UEFA Europa League for a victory 2-1.

Njie, a finalist in the 2013-2014 French League Cup would be a tough nut to crack when Cameroon lock horns with Sierra Leone in October as well as other subsequent matches of the ‘new look’ Indomitable Lions.
