CAF mourns Valery Mezague

CAF president Issa Hayatou has expressed sadness at the death of former Cameroon midfielder Valery Mezague.

Mezague was found dead in his Toulon apartment on Saturday. The 30-year-old midfielder, who was campaigning with Sporting Toulon in the French fifth division, was capped seven by Cameroon.

He also played for French sides including Montpellier and Sochaux. In 2004-2005, he had a stint with English side Portsmouth in England.

"Personally, and on behalf of the members of the African football community, we extend our deepest condolences to Mezague's family, friends and loved ones on this sudden loss," CAF president Hayatou said in his message of condolence.
