CAF Women’s Award 2015: Ngozi Ebere battles Cameroon stars

Paris Saint-Germain defender Ngozi Ebere faces a tough battle against Cameroon’s Gabrielle Onguene and Gaelle Enganamouit as well as the Ghanaian Portia Boakye for the CAF Women’s Player of 2015 Award on Thursday.

The Nigeria defender's main threat in this contest is Cameroon striker Gaelle Engananouit, who netted a hat-trick at the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada in a 6-0 thrashing of Ecuador.

The 23-year-old midfielder also finished as top scorer in the Swedish league in 2015 while playing for Eskilstuna United.

Falcons ace Ebere is a top quality defender who showed class at the 2015 World Cup after winning all the major local honours with Rivers Angels.

An African champion with Nigeria in 2014, she is strong in the tackle, blessed with great anticipation and is full of energy.

Her performance with the Falcons in Canada did not go unnoticed as she attracted interest from teams in USA before she decided to join PSG in France.

Nigeria stars who have won this prestigious individual accolade include Mercy Akide, Perpetua Nkwocha and Asisat Oshoala.
